Safeguarding & Ofsted- is this really the way forward?

Message from the Chair
Like a great many other headteachers I have always been passionate about seeking to improve the educational provision and environment for the primary child. I am not sure, however, that all of the changes that are presently taking place in primary education, or indeed those that are being formulated, will actually change things for the better.
For example, is the new Ofsted Framework for Inspection creating a better educational climate in our schools or is it creating a climate of fear? Whenever headteachers challenge the process of inspection we are accused of not wanting to be accountable and if we go further and question the processes that Ofsted now chooses to use to check on Safeguarding in our schools we are likely to be accused of not caring enough for the safety of our children.
