ARKive
ARKive is a not-for-profit initiative of The WildscreenTrust (www.wildscreen.org.uk).
"Over the past few decades a vast treasurey of wildlife images has been steadily accumulating, yet no one has known its full extent - or its gaps - and no one has had a comprehensive way of getting access to it. ARKive will put that right. It will become an invaluable tool for all concerned with the well-being of the natural world."
Sir David Attenborough CH FRS
What is ARKive?
It is the Noah's Ark for the Internet era - the world's centralised digital library of films, photographs and sound recordings of species, accessible to all via the world wide web.
ARKive is leading the virtual conservation effort - finding, sorting, cataloguing and copying the key records of species, and building them into a comprehensive and enduring audio-visual record.
For each species, ARKive are selecting and digitising an average of 10 minutes of moving footage, 6 - 10 stills and sound recordings (where appropriate), to compile a complete profile of the species' characteristic behaviour and appearance.

Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry
This new website uses interactive content (e-sources) to encourage student interest in science and to support teaching in Primary and Secondary schools. Developed and supported by the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry, the website provides an invaluable link between science topics studied in school and their applications in industry and research. Currently (02.01.03) no material for ks1 but the interactive ks2 section on 'The Skin' with questions and quizzes is impressive.
The resource on Solids, Liquids and Gases, uses animations to help explain how substances behave, and how they change from solid to liquid to gas. Teachers might use one section of the resource with a class, together with practical work suggested in one or more of the downloadable worksheets.
